get alerted at the first sign of fire

EASY TO INSTALL

We often get messages from men and women in their 80s and 90s saying they impressed at how easy it was to set up and install our alarms. No need to hire an electrician or re-decorate

MODERN DESIGN

FireGuard+ Interlinked Smoke and Heat detectors have a modern minimalist design and blend discreetly into any space of your home. Every system includes a remote to control your alarms.

New Scottish Legislation for Fire Alarms. Is your Home protected?

The changes apply to all homeowners and landlords in Scotland. An Interlinked Fire and Smoke alarm system must be fitted in a property, alongside adequate Carbon Monoxide protection. Failure to meet the standards will allow local authorities to use their statutory powers to require owners to carry out work on substandard housing.

Why the legislation is necessary:

Lack of protection
One in three households in the UK do not have a working fire alarm and do not meet the government standards. This is extremely dangerous as it reduces the opportunity to stop a fire in its early stage.
Technological upgrade
Over 10,000 fires are caused by faulty or missing detectors every year. Old fire systems are obsolete and difficult to maintain. New standards are necessary to upgrade existing systems.
Drastic action required
Following the Greenfell Tower tragic incident, drastic measures were introduced in 2019. The renewed framework ensures that everyone in Scotland has the same level of protection whether they own or rent their home, to avoid potential fires in the future.
Protect tenants
The new legislation will force negligent landlords to be compliant and meet the highest standards applied in the Private Rented Sector PRS, which should be already applied.

how to meet the New safety standards

To avoid potential confusion in meeting the new legislation standards, here is a visual example of which alarms are required to meet the new safety standards and achieve the highest level of protection for your home.
The regulations allow for interconnected alarms to be either hardwired or tamper proof long-life battery powered. For ease of installation and additional cost, wireless alarms are recommended.
Minimum protection required
Landlords and homeowners are required to meet the minimum standards to be compliant with the regulations. However, it is strongly recommended to get the highest level of protection to create a safe living environment.
Hallways and Landings: Smoke Alarms
Living Room: Smoke Alarm
Kitchen: Heat Alarm
Room with Boiler: Carbon Monoxide Detector
Highest protection recommended
To meet the highest protection advised by British Standard BS5839-6:2019, Smoke Alarms should be also installed in the dining area and each bedroom. This will help detecting alarms that are closer to the fire.
Bedroom: Smoke Alarm
Converted Loft: Smoke Alarm
Garage: Heat Alarm
Bathroom: no alarms allowed

Quick delivery and all already fitted
Excellent service and very competitive price. I ordered my standard bundle pack on Wednesday and it was delivered within 2 days. The instructional video was straightforward so it took me a few minutes the link the alarms. Delighted with the product and the service I received. Many thanks

Great service and fast delivery
My order with another company online got postponed week after week so I decided to cancel and order from fireguard. I was kept informed about the progress of my order by the team and received a text notification with exact delivery time just a week later. All alarms well packaged and easy to install. I'd have no hesitation in recommending.

No wifi to interlink
Easy to fit...especially if you use the sticky pads. Easy to interlink. No need to switch electric off. No internet wifi required. They are very loud! My neighbour came check on me when I was testing these. The company delivered way ahead of the expected date.

Cheaper than local company
Local electrical company advised to install wired alarms throughout my house which would have required extra cost just for the service. Luckily my neighbour helped me to purchase these battery powered alarms on line which I could install myself and cut down the cost. Installed last week and no spare wires around house.

Installed at my mother's house too
I fitted the full protection bundle at my mother's house myself. Easy to link the devices and didn't have to drill as it came with sticky pads. I showed her how to hush them with the remote controller in case of false alarms. She's feels safe now

Slick design, suits our interiors
To make our house safer and to comply with Scottish Government requirements I searched for the best deals available for smoke and heat detectors. What I really liked about the Fireguard system was how easy the instructions were to follow and the alarms are easy to fit. Most important, my wife likes the unobtrusive look and slick design, since we need to keep them at least 10 years... She recommended them to her friends

Easy to install
I run a local electrical business and these are so easy to fit. First sets took longer to arrive when I first ordered last month, but now I receive new sets very quickly within a couple of days. I have more work fitting smoke&heat alarms everyday and all customers are happy with the fast service.

Custom fit for my Victorian house
Excellent customer service! I live in a large home and needed a custom solution. When I contacted fireguard, I receive a fixed quote and purchased next day. All smoke and heat alarms are fitted and interlink. And testing is very easy with the remote controller, it would have been a problem with my high ceilings.

Frequently Asked Questions

A radio-linked system is the best solution to save time and money, without the risk of incurring in additional costs for installation and re-decoration to walls and ceiling. Here are the key differences between the two types:

Do I need an electrician to install FireGuard+ alarms?

We made it easy, you will not need to call an electrician to install our fire alarm system. Our alarms are wirelessly interconnected and long-life battery powered. You can either use screws and anchors, or strong adhesive pads to fit your alarms in minutes.

How many fire alarms do I need in my home?

The minimum protection standards requires one smoke alarm installed in the room most frequently used for general daytime living purposes; one smoke alarm in every circulation space on each storey, such as hallways and landings; one heat alarm in every kitchen; one carbon monoxide detector where there is a carbon-fuelled appliance, such as boilers.

For maximum protection we recommend to install one smoke alarm in every bedroom and dining area; one smoke alarm in converted lofts; one heat alarm in the garage.

Do FireGuard+ alarms detect Smoke and Heat at the same time?

FireSense 10W Interlinked Alarms include a Photoelectric (for smoke detection) and a Thermistor (for heat detection) sensors within the same unit, but do not detect both at the same time. This is necessary to avoid false alarm when heat detection is required over smoke detection in areas such as kitchen and garage.

You can easily switch from smoke to heat detection at any time, depending on the location of your fire alarm. Click here to learn more.

Why do fire alarms need to be interlinked?

Smoke and Heat Alarms are required to be interlinked. You may not hear the alarm closest to the fire but, by having an interlinked system, you will be alerted immediately in whatever room you are.

How will the new regulations impact my household insurance policy?

The new regulations will have limited impact on household insurance policies.

How long will delivery take?

All regular orders are dispatched the next working day and shipped with Next Day delivery option. Custom orders are dispatched within 3 days from the order date and delivered with Next Day delivery option.
